MASTER'S DEGREE


    Requirements for Master's Degree with Microelectronics & Photonics Concentration
    30 credits with minimum 3.0 GPA

    MP core course: 3 credits
    Three MP elective courses: 9 credits
    Three Department core courses: 9 credits
    Three Department elective courses: 9 credits

    COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER'S CONCENTRATION:
    To earn a Master's in the MP program, a student needs to complete a minimum of 30 credits (ten courses). The overall requirements are illustrated in the figure below. The 10 courses will consist of:

  • The three core courses required within the student's discipline (PEP, MT, or EE).
  • The introductory core MP course required for all students completing the MP Master's concentration. Three elective courses within the MP program subject to the following requirements:

    • The three MP elective courses must be offered by departments other than the student's home department.
    • At least one of these MP elective course must be chosen from each of these two other departments.

  • The remaining three courses will be selected from approved elective courses within the student's home department.Since the MP courses are cross-listed among the participating departments, these remaining courses can include additional courses within the set of MP program courses.

    All students will complete a study plan, approved by his/her faculty advisor, consistent with the requirements above.

Three MP Elective Courses (Not PEP) + Three PEP Core Courses
+ Three PEP Elective Courses = MS in Physics & Engineering Physics
(PEP)

Three MP Elective Courses (Not MT)

+ Three MT Core Courses + Three MT Elective Courses = ME in Materials Engineering
(MT)

Three MP Elective Courses
(Not EE)
+ Three EE Core Courses + Three EE Elective Courses = ME in Electrical Engineering
(EE)

EE = Electrical Engineering
MT = Material Engineering
PEP = Physics and Engineering Physics
